I LOVE YOU

Three simple words, “I LOVE YOU,” turned into bold black-and-white symbolic icons and graphic patterns: an eye, a heart, and a lucky horseshoe. Together, the icons carry their own quiet symbolism: the eye for awareness and protection, the heart for love and connection, and the horseshoe — shaped like the word "you" sounds — for luck.

The sketchy drawing style of the icons carries a bold, painterly feel, inspired by black-and-white ink drawings and the rough strokes of painted calligraphy. Paired with the idea of exploring more traditional patterns — repeating structures you'd find in a pinstripe, polka dot, plaid, or gingham — the patterns felt fresh.

The breadth of the collection includes icons, linework, and handwritten messages that force you to take a closer look. The collection is graphic, linear, contemporary, and bold — evoking a city-like mix of newsprint, pinstripes, and gridded roads. The result is a pattern language all its own where symbolism meets playful icons, and tradition gets a bold new look.

GERANIUMS

This piece was an experiment completed in a 25-minute drawing session. The process: take four squares of paper, draw, rearrange, draw again, and repeat until you land on a seamless pattern. I didn't plan ahead — I just followed my intuition, letting the process lead.

I was fresh off buying geraniums for the outdoor planters, sat down, and decided I would stick to a simple, contrasting palette of red and green, layering organic shapes with more structural linework.

The result reminds me of backyard summers, hot days under the sprinkler, cool red painted toenails — handmade, nostalgic, bright. Once the experiment was complete, it felt right for home furnishings and personal accessories. And something is fitting about that, since geraniums symbolize positive energy and grounding, a lovely sentiment to bring into your home and yourself.
