From Retail Floors to Front Doors

Introducing Home Staging Services at Emma Morgan Creative

Where Retail Meets Real Estate

"I'd love to style and stage people's homes," I said lightheartedly when asked about my future at a post-work happy hour. I thought I was joking, but secretly I meant it.

That was the me of the 2010's: working 10+ hour days, doing overnight installations, and commuting more hours than I'd like to admit. I loved my job (it was my dream job at the time), but I knew it wasn't sustainable β€” and it wasn't the life I wanted ten years down the road. So interior styling and home staging secretly became my "someday." And in my imagination, it sounded cozy, romantic, and enjoyable (like a good book) β€” and best of all, something I could do anywhere.

This year, something shifted. I still didn't have a perfect plan, but I had put it out into the universe enough times that ignoring it felt wrong. So I did what my husband would call being "biased towards action" β€” I chose to take the leap. Someday became today.

I am thrilled to share that I am now a certified Staging Design Professional through the nationally accredited Staging Studio, and proudly offering home staging services throughout Long Island, NY.

Why Home Staging?

The honest answer is that it's always felt like a natural extension of what I already do.

Over the past 15 years I have worked in luxury retail and visual merchandising, helping brands push forward commercial goals through the physical expression of their spaces and products. The logic is simple: when something looks beautiful, it makes an emotional connection, and it sells. I have always applied that thinking to retail floors, product launches, and brand environments, and these same principles translate directly and powerfully to staging and selling a home.

I call this "home merchandising" β€” I truly believe that framing makes all the difference. A home going to market isn't just a property, it's a product. And like any great product, it deserves to be presented at its absolute best.

There is also something deeply personal about this new chapter. Beyond the commercial opportunity, I am genuinely excited (and slightly nervous) to work within my own community β€” to help neighbors, friends, and new clients navigate one of the most stressful and significant transactions of their lives. To help them see the vision, cut through the noise, and feel confident in how their home shows up to potential buyers. That human, personal element is new territory for me, and will be a complement to the more commercial work I am used to.

What I Will Be Offering (to start πŸ™ƒ)

To get started, I will be taking appointments for Paint Color Consultations and Occupied Home Staging. These two services will allow me to get to know my clients and build trust β€” while quietly developing my future offerings in the background. You can find full details on each service by clicking the button below.

It may feel a little unconventional to share my business roadmap so openly, but I value honesty, and since I am building this mostly on my own, I love the idea of bringing you along for the journey.

In the near future, I will be offering Short-Term Rental Design, and further down the road β€” within the next year or two β€” I hope to expand into Vacant Home Staging, including furniture and dΓ©cor rental.

Instinct Meets Expertise

I am often caught by my husband rearranging furniture in my own home (way more frequently than necessary), and that's why this secret dream feels like something in my DNA. I love the process of looking at a space with fresh eyes, identifying what's working and what isn't, and transforming it into something that feels intentional, beautiful, and compelling β€” using what's already there wherever possible.

Younger me at that happy hour had no idea how to get here, but she knew exactly where she wanted to go. And it turns out that instinct, combined with my background in fine art painting (I received a BA back in 2009!), visual merchandising, and retail design, gives me a perspective that I believe is rare in the home staging world. I don't just style spaces to look pretty for photos β€” I merchandise them to convert.

Looking to Sell?

If you or someone you know is preparing to sell a home on Long Island, I would love the opportunity to help. A consultation is the perfect first step β€” together we will identify your home's most desirable features, develop a plan, and merchandise the space to maximize sale price and minimize time on market. The goal? To make buyers walk in and immediately feel they've found their "someday" dream home. πŸ’š
